Changes to be aware of in Endicia for Mac:

  • Hidden postage is now a preference, not on the main screen, and defaults to on. It is required for the new integrated international shipping labels
  • After May 14, international labels and corresponding customs forms will print differently than in previous versions of Endicia for Mac:
    • First-Class Mail International and Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelope - For small packages weighing up to 4 pounds, Endicia for Mac will print a 4”x6” shipping label to your plain paper or Zebra printer. The customs forms do not need to be signed.
    • Priority Mail International standard packaging and Flat Rate Box - Endicia for Mac will print two 8.5”x11” sheets to a plain paper printer only. Fold these sheets in half and place in a 2976-E clear plastic envelope. The customs forms do not need to be signed.
    • Express Mail International standard packaging and Flat Rate Envelope - Endicia for Mac will print two 8.5”x11” sheets to a plain paper printer only. Fold these sheets in half and place in a 2976-E clear plastic envelope. The customs forms do not need to be signed.
  • APO/FPO shipments will still use the old style customs forms
  • XML format changes:
    • Because of the new dimensional weight and attention to the mailpiece type, we’ve added some new tags and eliminated older ones. The new specification is here: http://endicia.xmlmac.sgizmo.com/
    • If you are using the XML interface for printing international items with customs forms, you should be aware that because the forms are now electronically signed, you must pass in a new tag <CustomsCertify> which must have a value of TRUE. We have tried to be as backwards compatible as we could but this is a mandatory change. In addition, the names of countries in the CountryOfOrigin tags are now checked against the USPS official country list so you’ll want to make sure that you are using the full names.
    • Endicia for Mac 2.5 does not support the ReturnAddress XML tags or Address Verification file formats yet but will in the next update.
  • We are considering dropping support in a future release for Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar and upping the system requirement to Mac OS X 10.3.9. If you have any comments or questions about this, please let us know at mac@endicia.com

Changes to be aware of from the USPS:

  • The rates effective May 14, 2007 are significantly different from the previous rates. International mail has been overhauled with new mail classes, customs forms and support for flat rate products, and domestic mail is now subject to dimensional weight if your package is over one cubic foot. In addition, First-Class Mail rates vary depending on if you are mailing a letter, large envelope, or package. Here are some handy links with information about the rate change:
